Solitaire Lodge is Owned and Hosted by Wayne Tomlinson and Ingrid Jaques.  Wayne and Ingrid are both very proud Kiwis and their main goal is to provide guests with a truly authentic, New Zealand Lodge experience. Ingrid has an extensive career in education and shares a passion for visual arts, while Wayne has enjoyed the challenge of operating small businesses for much of his life, including 13 years spent owning, managing and developing a corporate hotel in Wellington.

It was the superb location and inspirational peninsular setting when visiting this famous fishing lodge near Rotorua, which led them to purchasing the 10 suite property four years ago. They wake up each day feeling very lucky to have a majestic volcano as a close neighbour, and hot water beaches, rainforest waterfalls and secluded private bays on their doorstep!

Set on its own private peninsula on the shores of Lake Tarawera, Solitaire Lodge is situated in one of the country’s most spectacular natural settings. With a helipad and private jetty onsite, there are a wide range of activities on offer, from kayaking to scenic helicopter flights and world-class trout fishing. Discovering the lake’s many treasures is one of the main highlights during a stay at the property, prompting Wayne to purchase a luxurious 19ft pontoon watercraft for guests to enjoy.
